Although his family and friends had been urging him for years not to keep his compositions to himself, it wasn’t until 2019 that Gaël let himself be won over by the idea of sharing his musical universe, irresistibly and suddenly attracted by this project of years gone by, this childhood dream that had been put aside for too long.
So he set about finding places where he could share his creations, and preparing his first album, « Dialogues entre Deux Mondes… Je de Miroir », released at the end of 2022.
Gaël began this project of a lifetime at the age of 12. Fascinated by the evocative and expressive power of the guitar, he set out to learn on his own.
He soon began creating his own chords, arpeggios and harmonies, composing his own little world with his guitar in his teenage bedroom. He was driven by a compelling need to express “that something inside him that always has something to say…”.
“I couldn’t contain all the emotion I had inside me. The work of musical composition offered me a way of regulating these overflowing emotions… of building a habitable world in which it was possible to create a relationship of tenderness and love with myself…” he confides.
And that’s how, by mixing influences from classical music, rock, Bossa Nova and different forms of jazz, he translates what he feels and expresses it with all his sensitivity. Each of his compositions takes the form of a dialogue with his guitar, a story that unfolds along the lines of his emotions.
And it’s these dialogues, these reveries that Gaël now wants to share, in the hope that his music will grab you, move you but also draw you in and carry you wherever you want to go… in spite of yourself.
“… Whatever you do, wherever you are, I’d be happy if my compositions had the power to suspend time, to open an unexpected gap in the flow of your life, to bring you a breath, a little air, a little comfort, a little love… and that after having plunged you into a state of enchantment and sometimes exaltation, my music soothes you, calms you, leaving you with the impression that you’ve said it all…”.
